I7-6700K in Laptop – This was my first experience with such a modification. I delided and changed the IHS very easily. My laptop is Eurocom X4 / Clevo P750DM-G. The final temperature drop after delid, IHS change and repaste was -25 C in IADA 64.

Such a cool modification – I grabbed one of these for my 6700k delid/relid and love it. Keep in mind it’s the surface area increase over the stock IHS that improves thermals and not a change in IHS material. So you can’t expect to lose more than 2-3 C without performing other modifications. However, if you’re already delidding and applying liquid metal then this is a great buy (it saves time cleaning up the stock IHS as well).

Installed on two ASUS boards. Works fine. – To counter the comment regarding difficulties with ASUS boards and the plastic CPU installation bracket: The solution is to just not use the bracket at all. There is a lip around the socket that will contain the CPU circuit board exactly, and there is even a triangle mark on the socket to indicate the proper orientation of the CPU to the socket, and therefore pins. So, simply line up the triangle on the CPU with the triangle on the socket and GENTLY set the CPU in lip of the socket. The CPU circuit board will line up with the lip around the socket and is pretty stable at that point. If you have any concern about it moving, simply hold the CPU down with a finger while you lock down the CPU with the metal frame and lever. Of course, use your own judgement, but I can tell you that it was a pretty simple process on the two ASUS boards that I worked with. (z1701 Pro and Maximus VIII). I should also add that the Rockit IHS is an excellent product, which produced significant results.

Buyed also this copper ihs and some thermal grizzly, and it fitted perfectly on my gigabyte z170x motherboard.
Thx again guys for this wonderfull product.

Simply amazed! Huge difference! – I de-lidded my i7-7700k 14 months ago with the help of Rockit cool tools. Recently I noticed my temps, even at idle were going through the roof, so I decided to re-do the liquid metal. I contacted James (Rockit Cool owner) with a few questions and decided to buy this custom IHS. James is amazing by the way, super helpful.

It turns out, that the heat issue was caused by my Corsair H100 v2 starting to go bad. I was able to RMA it and get an exact replacement.

Prior to buying this custom IHS, I overclocked my de-lidded i7-7700k to 5.0 GHz at 1.36v. I would hit around 90c almost immediately in Prime95 Blend tests and idle in the 50 – 60c range. During heavy gaming, I was usually in the 80s. When the watercooler went out, I was getting into the mid 90s while gaming.

After replacing the defective watercooler, and installing the new custom IHS, I am now getting about 20c additional temp drops. I am simply amazed. I used Conductonaught for the liquid metal and Kryonaught for the thermal grease.

In Prime95 blend test for 30 mins my highest recorded temp was 70c. I now idle in the 30s, with 2 cores in the high 20s at the moment. Same 5.0 GHz at 1.36v. Some of this may be due to my original H100 v2 being low quality, but not many people were getting better temps on a de-lidded i7-7700k at 5.0 GHz. I am giving most, if not all of the credit to the custom IHS.

I was so astounded I actually sent James at Rockit Cool screenshots as proof! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Owners of Asus Motherboards Beware… – The raised portion of this IHS is approximately 2.5mm wider than the same area of the stock IHS, and as a result, it doesn’t fit the plastic CPU installation bracket that Asus motherboards use to immobilize the processor as you’re clamping it down with the socket lever. Not using this bracket is a terrible idea, whether or not you’re a seasoned machine builder.

I had to trim an already-fragile plastic bracket in four different places to eliminate the physical interference.

There’s absolutely nothing on this page that says you may have to modify OEM parts, and while this may not be an issue for all LGA 1151 boards, there’s a lot of people out there who have an Asus motherboard that aren’t willing to risk a bent pin. Intel sockets aren’t surefire. You can set a CPU dead-center on the socket, and there’s still a chance you’ll end up with bent pins; I’ve seen it happen.

Also, the top surface of this IHS is not completely flat. Tool marks from the CNC machine leave obvious parallel ridging that’s 1 or 2 microns thick. Seems really sloppy, frankly. I shouldn’t have to get out the polishing compound for something like this.

Excellent quality – This is an excellent product that has made my lapping service obsolete. Since this has been released every delid I do now gets this copper IHS. The delid process is so useful especially on Kaby Lake CPU but the nice thing is you do not even need to Overclock to benefit from the Delid and custom IHS. It also helps run at peak boost speeds with smaller air coolers. Thanks to the delid and copper IHS I was easily able to get 5ghz/1.32v on my personal 7700k in an ITX build with the Noctua u9s air cooler.

While this is a great product it is also worth stating that the customer service has been great. I am a business owner and the owner has provided excellent answers to my questions on these products.

Side note: How cool would it be to turn your stock IHS into a key chain? You can if you dont need it anymore thanks to this Copper IHS 😉

Highly recommended – I purchased this along with the Delid/Relid for my 8700k. I dropped around 7c by replacing the stock IHS and TIM with RockitCools copper IHS and Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. I feel it was well worth it from a longevity stand point seeing as how my 8700k is running at 1.395v and over clocked to 5Ghz. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to squeeze that little bit extra out of their CPU. And on a side note…. Get the relid tool with the IHS. The one that comes with the delid tool only works for the stock IHS. Derp

Copper IHS FTW – I just delidded I7 4770k and went from 65c to 40c under a gaming load, just amazing stuff. I used liquid pro and the copper IHS along with IC Diamond for the thermal paste between the IHS and AIO cooler, the copper IHS is beautifully machined and has a very nice heft to it. It looks and performs way better than stock, as I heard from someone this item is more for an enthusiast rather than a necessary item for overclocking. I got it because it looks good and I wanted to try delidding for once, and I must say I’m quite pleased with the results.

Rockit 88 IHS Not Compatible – Bought this without the guide thinking the Rockit 88 Delid/Redlid kit came with a compatible IHS guide. It really needs to be stated somewhere that it does not work with that guide. Quite a lot more frustration without the guide and am hoping I haven’t fried my CPU with any liquid metal. Not very happy. The Rockit 88 itself seemed to work fine.

Copper Everything! – So far my experience with this product has been great. I run a delidded 6700k (4.6gHz 24/7 but have gotten it to 4.9gHz max) with CL liquid ultra running prior to exchanging OEM IHS for this copper one. My temp delta was not earth shattering, but I did see another approx. 3 or 4 degrees celsius reduction when running synthetic torture tests like prime95 or aida64. I still consider this impressive though since I thought I was out of options aside from a custom chip/IHS from caseking/de8auer or something. Granted I do not use thermo-couples so I am relying on “HW64” and “Core Temp” for temp readings and may be inaccurate, but are relative since I was using the same everything to measure before and after.. Overall, The quality is top notch and machining seemed very precise. Overall,I am 100% satisfied with my purchase, and also hoping to see some increased longevity out of the CPU/LM/IHS since intel IHS can suffer numerous issues from LM over time and all LMs (not just coollabs) love copper. Copper Everything!
